Samer & Co. Shipping began handling Ro-Ro operations with the Turkish market in the 1970s, giving this business full independence in 1987 by establishing its sister company Samer Seaports & Terminals Srl, that has been managing since then what over the years has become the most important sea highway of the Mediterranean Sea.
The terminal managed by the company can host three vessels simultaneously with a 39’ natural draft and a storage area of 150,000 square metres. Operations are carried out 365 days a year with no interruption, including customs formalities, and Trieste is the only port able to perform that, enabling a movement of over 200,000 heavy units per year to be managed seamlessly.

A section of this terminal is devoted to rail operations, with regular services to strategic destinations in Central Europe and the target to allow for each and every cargo handled here to leave and reach the terminal by train, with an obviously significant reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and the consequent lower carbon footprint.
